Tewkesbury Borough Council has appointed Robert Weaver as its new deputy chief executive.
Robert will join Tewkesbury borough from High Peak Borough Council and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, where he has worked since 2014 as head of regulatory services for one of the most successful shared service council alliances. Prior to this Robert’s 18 years of local government experience most recently includes managing environmental service teams at Worcester City Council and Stroud District Council in Gloucestershire.
Robert said: “It’s a privilege to be appointed and I am delighted to be joining Tewkesbury Borough Council, an ambitious council with a strong and successful team. My priority will be to build on the council’s excellent track record of modifying services to improve outcomes for our residents, working closely with elected members, colleagues and the people we serve.
“It’s a really exciting time to be joining the council, with its vision to become more financially independent and maximising the benefits of growth by working closely with partners and using a more commercial approach to projects and strategies. By working together as a team and being ambitious in terms of how we fund services, there’s no reason why this vision can’t become a reality.”
“On a personal level I’m really looking forward to returning to Gloucestershire - a fantastic county that’s always been close to my heart.”
Tewkesbury Borough Council’s chief executive, Mike Dawson, said “We are pleased that Robert is joining the council. He’s an excellent local government professional with ambitions that match our own. He has leadership experience gained from an outstanding track record of success and he will be a great addition to our team.”
