Tewkesbury Borough Council wants to hear from taxi passengers, drivers and other interested parties to find out about important issues when licensing hackney carriage and private-hire drivers and vehicles.
The council is responsible for regulating the local taxi and private hire industry and the safety of the public is its principal concern. Its licensing policy was last reviewed in 2016 and the time has come to review it again.
A number of changes have been proposed to provide clarity, promote consistency and maintain high standards, but the council now needs to hear thoughts and opinions on the proposals from members of the public.
Councillor Jim Mason, lead member for clean and green environment, said: “The council’s policy covers many aspects of licensing vehicles and drivers, including: the age and experience of drivers; the type and condition of vehicles; and disable access. These are all incredibly important issues, so please do get in touch if you use or work in the industry, we really do welcome your thoughts.”
Details on the consultation, and how you can give your feedback, are available here.
The consultation closes on Monday, 26 August 2019.
