Community groups are being asked to express an interest in funds that could pay for new playing pitches, or could help make improvements to existing pitches, in Twyning.
Twyning has seen a number of new homes introduced recently and, as a result of Section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Tewkesbury Borough Council has collected contributions from the developers to invest back into local community projects, specifically for playing pitches.
Community groups are able to express an interest in the funds resulting from Section 106 agreements, where the fund allocation is not explicit. Expressions of interest will need to highlight that a need in the community has arisen as a result of a new housing development.
The closing date for expressions of interest is 6 May 2019.
Andy Sanders, economic and community development manager, said: “Almost £50,000 has been put aside for playing pitches in Twyning. We would love to hear from local groups who have seen an opportunity open up as a result of the new housing and are interested in using playing pitches to provide outdoor sports or fitness activities for the new community.”
