Why we collect information about you?

To enable us to monitor sickness absence, support individuals and make adjustments where appropriate in terms of equipment, role and pay individuals correctly during sick leave.

What information do we collect about you?

We collect information about:

  • You (name and reason and length of sickness absence).
  • Further details about your medical fitness, history and circumstances should the case be referred to our Occupational Health Provider.

Who do we share the information with?

  • Immediate Line Management
  • Human Resources Team
  • Occupational Health Provider (if applicable)
  • Payroll

Is any information transferred to or stored on servers based outside the European Economic Area?


How long do we keep your information?

We keep information about you for a maximum period of 6 years after the termination of your employment with Tewkesbury Borough Council.

What are the consequences if we do not collect the data?

We would be unable to manage sickness absence within the Council effectively.  Therefore, unable to assist staff where there is a need and fulfill our statutory and legal obligations.  Payroll would not have significant information to process it properly on a monthly basis.
