The Environmental Health Team is a busy, multi-disciplinary team which covers traditional environmental health areas such as food safety, health and safety, environmental protection, and housing. The Council’s licensing function is also included in the Teams remit.

Due to an internal service review a number of exciting opportunities have arisen within the Council’s Environmental Health Team.

Do you have outstanding administration skills, a meticulous eye for detail, sophisticated influencing skills and the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships? Are you a great communicator and people person?

If so, then an exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and motivated individual to join the Council’s Environmental Health Team as Senior Licensing Officer.  The post holder will play a leading role in developing and administering the Council’s Licensing Service, which includes taxi licensing, street trading, sale of alcohol, animal welfare, regulated entertainment, tattooing, house to house collections and charitable street collections.

The individual must have excellent organisational and analytical skills and meticulous written and verbal communication skills. It will be expected that the successful candidate will be able to produce all work with a high degree of accuracy and be able to complete all work effectively and to tight deadlines.

Experience and ability to use ICT systems and applications is essential, as is the ability to deal with high volumes of correspondence and manage a broad and varied workload.

The successful applicant will preferably hold a relevant qualification at degree level, but they must have significant experience of licensing matters, including enforcement. Previous management or supervisory experience would be an advantage.

For an informal discussion please contact Gordon Buchanan, Environmental Health Manager, on 01684 272117 or Alastair Low, Principal Environmental Health Officer, on 01684 272175.

  • Closing date: Thursday, 15 November 2018
