Empty homes

Home > Residents > Housing > Empty homes

At a time of huge need for housing, we recognise the need to reduce the number of long-term empty properties and the Government expects us to encourage the reuse of empty homes.

We have given a commitment in our housing strategy to work to reduce the numbers of empty homes.  We encourage owners to bring their properties back into use and ultimately to deter them from leaving their homes empty. We may also be able to help in dealing with blight resulting from living near to an empty property.
