About the safeguarding training

Everyone should be aware of the well publicised issues relating to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Tewkesbury Borough Council’s Hackney Carriage (Taxi) and Private Hire Licensing Policy states:

“The Council has a duty to protect those who are vulnerable.
The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and it is expected that the taxi and private hire trade share this commitment.
All licensed drivers must demonstrate successful completion of a prescribed safeguarding training course”

Any driver who has already successfully completed a recognized safeguarding course and can provide evidence to that effect will not be required to attend the Courses outlined below.

Please note that PATS training does not provide safeguarding training to the level that is required and holders of a PATS certificate must also attend a course unless additional safeguarding training has been completed and evidence is produced to that effect.

Any driver who has not undertaken training or is not able to provide evidence to show that they have must attend one of the courses outlined below.

Failure to do so may result in the suspension of your Hackney Carriage or Private Hire Driver’s Licence until such time as you are able to prove to The Council that you have attended a recognised safeguarding course that has been approved by the Gloucestershire Child Safeguarding Board.
