Car park refund continues for leisure centre users

Visitors to Cascades Leisure Centre will benefit from a new refund scheme, thanks to support from Tewkesbury Borough Council and the Swimming Bath Trust.

The two organisations have been working in partnership to ensure the centre's users continue to get a refund on their parking ticket.

The new scheme, which was agreed at a Council meeting on 25 February, will mean swimmers continue to receive a £1 refund on their parking charge.

It will replace the previous scheme which would have dropped the refund to 50p in April and then to no refund in 2011.

It was agreed that reducing the parking charge refund in April may have a detrimental effect on visitor numbers.

Tewkesbury Borough Council's Lead Member for Economic Development and Promotion Cllr Phil Taylor said: "This decision reflects the Council's commitment to increasing participation in sports, as well as supporting Tewkesbury's Healthy Town status.

"Our joint work with the Swimming Bath Trust has resulted in a scheme that will benefit our customers and work well for the centre."

Swimming Bath Trust Chair Marion Roope added: "I think visitors to Cascades Leisure Centre will be pleased to hear this news. We have worked closely with Tewkesbury Borough Council and keeping the refund level as it is will ensure customer numbers and satisfaction levels are kept high."

Cascades Leisure Centre has recently had a brand new sauna fitted and  boasts facilities such as a swimming pool, fitness suite and exercise studio.
