Archive - Funding Boost for Local Businesses
Local businesses will benefit from a new small business grant scheme aimed at helping businesses across the Borough during the economic downturn. The funding for this scheme comes from the extra income received from the recent reduction in VAT and other savings made by the Council.Katie Power, Economic Development Officer explains: "Consultation with local business groups and a recent business survey identified grant funding as a key area of support which would help small business at the current time. The survey also indicated that funding towards marketing and promotion would be very valuable.
"Therefore Tewkesbury Borough Council has developed this scheme to help small businesses market and promote themselves. It's been designed to enable flexibility in its delivery and support as many businesses as possible."
It is proposed that this new grant fund will help both new and existing businesses with marketing and promotion costs. Assistance will be offered in the form of a one of grant.
To be eligible for a grant a business must have ten employees or less and be located within Tewkesbury Borough or relocating into the Borough.
The types of project that may be eligible for funding are: advertising the business in the local media; development of promotional material for the business; website development; promotional events or activities; and any other marketing and promotion work.
Councillor Phil Taylor, Lead Member for Economic Development and Promotion, comments: "We hope this scheme will help raise confidence amongst the business community and provide local businesses with some support in these difficult times."
The grants will be administered on a first come first served basis and the application process for the scheme is quick and simple.
