Admissions Policy
The Institute of Sport and Recreation Management (ISRM), solicited the views of the Amateur Swimming Association, the Health and Safety Executive, the Sports Council, the Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA). In every case, backing was given to the Institutes policy for the provisions for under 8's within a swimming pool. The ISRM have made the following recommendations:
Children under 8 years old must be accompanied as follows:
All Pools
Children under 4 years old must be accompanied on a maximum 1 to 1 basis.
One responsible adult, over the age of 16, who must be in the water, may supervise only one child under 4 years old, i.e. on a 1 to 1 basis.
Children aged between 4 and 7 years old must be accompanied on a maximum 2 to 1 basis.
One responsible adult, over the age of 16, who must be in the water,may supervise up to two children between 4 and 7 years old, i.e. on a 2 to 1 basis.
Learner Pool and Grotto only
Children under 8 years old must be accompanied on a maximum 3 to 1 basis.
One responsible adult, over the age of 16, who must be in the water,may supervise up to three children 8 years old, i.e. on a 3 to 1 basis.
